Le Mas de Florette

Lioux · Gordes

The estate

In Lioux, just by Gordes, an authentic restored seventeenth-century farmhouse opening onto a plain of lavender. You stay here as if at home, among family and friends, in a setting both elegant and natural; the grounds, laid out in terraces, offer as many corners to retreat to as spaces to gather. A wedding here takes the central courtyard as its heart: the ceremony facing the lavender plain, dinner in the courtyard, and dancing in the sheepfold once the sun is down.

One of four wedding venues in Provence in the Home Sweet Event collection.

The right estate

Who is Le Mas de Florette for?

Le Mas de Florette is right for you if you want a Provence that is prestigious, comfortable and exceptionally good-looking, in the golden triangle of the Luberon.

Nature is everywhere here, but tightly composed: generous planting, graphic sightlines, the cliff and the distant view of Gordes. A rare property, beautiful in every season, combining elegance, comfort and the Provençal art of living without the logistics of housing everyone under one roof.

The landscaped grounds

The landscaped grounds, laid out in terraces, are planted with holm oaks and olive trees. They enjoy an elevated position facing the lavender fields and the breathtaking panorama of the Luberon mountains. They also hold a petanque court, the fixture that does the most work over a three-day weekend: it is where the guests who do not know each other gather once lunch is over and nothing is scheduled.

The reception room and dance floor

The ground floor of the Mas's west wing, with its bright reception room, charming veranda and direct access from the dinner area, is where the wedding party moves once dinner is cleared, and where it carries on whatever the weather decides to do.

The pool

The pool is designed as a haven of peace opening onto lavender fields as far as the eye can see. A relaxing space, perfect for brunch as well as for the welcome evening.

The lavender fields

The quintessential symbol of Provence, the lavender fields stretch as far as the eye can see. They bloom from June to mid-July, and the timing can vary each year.

The central courtyard

This U-shaped farmhouse holds a courtyard that becomes the beating heart of your event. Lined with stone walls, a terrace and an open sheepfold, lit with festoon lights. In case of bad weather, this space can be covered.

Organising from where you are

Eight of our couples in ten who marry at Le Mas de Florette live somewhere else, usually in another country. They choose a farmhouse in Lioux from photographs, pick a caterer they have not met and commit to three days they cannot rehearse. Put like that it sounds reckless, and the apprehension people feel about it is the single thing they mention most often when they first write to us. It is not the money and it is not the guest list. It is the distance.

The remedy we have settled on is deliberately not a wedding planning service. You will organise the celebration yourself, in your own way and to your own taste, because handing that to an agency would remove the reason for hiring a private estate. What we supply is the toolbox: direct advice on what works in this courtyard and what does not, one contact who does not change between the first message and the farewell brunch, and an ecosystem of suppliers who know the mas, its kitchen and its light. Their only obligation to us is a charter of ethics, fairness, honesty and reliability, because we take no commission on a single one of them.

Two practices turn that into something you can feel. The Wedding Shop Days gather around forty of those suppliers at one of the estates for two to four days once a year, free for our couples, with no entry fee and nothing to sign on the day: you taste, you listen, you meet, and one weekend replaces half a dozen trips to Provence. Then, after each celebration, a satisfaction questionnaire goes to the couple, and what comes back decides who remains in the ecosystem.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the estate privately rented in full for our event?

Yes. Le Mas de Florette is reserved for you in its entirety, for two to five days: no other group is hosted on the property.

How soon do we hear back after our request?

You receive our brochure within 5 minutes of sending the form, then we call you to talk through your project. One single contact follows you from the first message to the last day of your event.

Do you work with imposed suppliers?

Only for caterers (you choose from our list of around ten partner caterers and private chefs). For every other supplier, no imposed list. We recommend an ecosystem of professionals committed to a charter of ethics, fairness, honesty and reliability, and take no commission: you pay them directly, at their own rates. A moral commitment is all we ask in return, and the satisfaction questionnaire our couples fill in after each event is what decides who stays on the list.

Is there a private pool on site?

Yes, designed as a haven of peace opening onto lavender fields as far as the eye can see, with garden lounges, sun loungers and parasols.

What happens in case of rain or bad weather?

The central courtyard, lined with stone and lit with festoon lights, can be covered in case of bad weather.

We do not live in France. Is organising this realistic?

It is the usual case: eight of our couples in ten live elsewhere, most of them abroad. One contact stays with you from the first message to the farewell brunch, the suppliers we recommend already know the mas and its courtyard, and since none of them pays us a commission, what we tell you is not steered by anything. In practice most couples visit twice, once before booking and once to settle details, and the Wedding Shop Days absorb the meetings that would otherwise mean more journeys.

What are the Wedding Shop Days?

A party rather than a trade fair, held once a year at one of the estates over two to four days with around forty suppliers from our ecosystem: caterers, photographers, florists, musicians, decorators. Our couples come free of charge, with no entry fee, no obligation and nothing to sign on site. You taste, you listen, you dance and you meet the people who might work on your day. Anyone who has booked an estate is invited to the next edition and gets the dates as soon as they are fixed.

When are the lavender fields in bloom?

From June to mid-July, though the period can vary each year. A small lavender field is kept in bloom on the property until the end of September.
